Skin rash on face

Skin rash on face is due to infection, allergy, heat and sometimes medicines also have adverse affect on skin causing skin rash on face. It is the swelling and redness of skin. The skin can resist but at times it is unable to fight certain bacteria and viruses which results in swelling of skin with itchy feeling, redness and dry skin. There is skin rash on face and neck which is noticeable and it attracts attention. These rashes are of various shape, size and color. The spots could look like reddish, pinkish or brownish or rashes could be like plain bump. Skin rash on face, some can be treated easily, they are only like rough skin whereas some are like blisters which cause itching and is not easy to cure it.

Causes on skin rash on face

Following the causes of skin rash on face:

  • Hives: Hives are reactions caused due to allergies to viral infections, fluctuation in temperatures, also bite by insects. These hives makes the skin itchy with red patches and rashes.
  • Heat Rash: This is a very common type of skin rash on face and people suffer from this type of rash usually when the body is prone to very hot climate. It causes itchiness which could also lead to excess feeling to scratch. This will make the rashes very bad.
  • Infantile Acne: Infantile Acne affects the infant (also known as normal newborn rash). An infant has acne on cheek and nose on the 2nd and 3rd day from birth. It is due to the changes in hormones from the time of development of fetus, but is cleared within few weeks and it does not have to be treated.
  • Eczema: Eczema is swelling and redness of skin with rashes. It could be due to reaction to allergen or hereditary. Also it is one of the symptoms of diabetes. It makes the skin dry and rashes occur on face and hands.
  • Rosacea: It affects the adult causing pimple on the face; also it makes the face red. It is like acne and it occurs from time to time. It is therefore a persistent skin rash on face causing redness and swelling.
  • Contact Dermatitis: This is a skin disorder due to contact with allergen e.g. pollens, chemical, food and so on. It causes skin rash on face and other parts of the body as well.  When the body is exposed to any of the allergen it reacts and results in eruption of rash and blister (which are very itchy).
  • Herpes Zoster: Herpes Zoster occurs due to viral infections causing skin rash on face and few parts of 1 side of the body (which includes chest). These rashes cause pain and are very itchy. It affects the kids as well as the adults. There is a virus called Varicella zoster. This virus is the cause for chicken pox which can further lead to Herpes Zoster causing burning sensation and skin rash on face.

Treatment for Skin rash on face

Treatments for skin rash on face are

  • Skin rash on face are not very serious and harmful and are curable on its own. But if skin rash on face causes itchiness, redness, swelling or dryness of skin and so on, then one can use creams which contain menthol, antihistamines, Benadryl, pramoxine.
  • Continues washing and not washing the face, both leads to dry skin, further resulting in rashes. Therefore one should wash face at least three times per day i.e. 1) morning, 2) after lunch and 3) before sleeping. One can also use moisturizers at least two times. Moisturizers soften and condition the skin avoiding dryness of skin.
  • One should also avoid consuming tobacco, alcoholic drinks and junk food. This will lessen the chances of having skin rash on face.
  • One should keep the face and skin fresh and avoid contact with allergen or pollutant. One has to know the allergens which cause rashes so as to keep away from it. Also if too much contact with sun damages the skin then one should opt for sunscreen lotion for protection of skin. If a person has dry or sensitive skin then it is better to avoid usage of perfumes or alkaline soaps. One can use cleansers which are soap and perfume free.
  • To avoid dehydration of skin and keep it moist it is very important to drink lot of water daily. Fresh fruits, food and vegetables are also necessary to have good and healthy skin.
  • The above mentioned are the common methods to cure skin rash on face but if it continues and spreads over to the other parts of the body then one should visit a skin specialist and dermatologist for skin rashes to be treated.
